Gratitude

all gratitude begins hereGratitude is something I think about a lot. I find that thinking about gratitude leads me to looks for things to be grateful for, and that mindfulness is soothing and grounding. Gratitude illuminates a lot of little things I would have missed – details that would have been lost on me as I buzz through life. It helps to neutralize situations that might have been negative. Gratitude slows me down – and if you’ve known me long, you’ll understand how much I need that.

Gratitude is important for the big things too- I am not exaggerating when I say that gratitude saved my marriage.

One of the bloggers I adore – Milagro Girl – initiated a twitter/facebook gratitude practice that you can read about here. Starting today, I’ll be following her lead and sharing a little list of the things I’m grateful for on my facebook status and twitter feed. I would love for you to join me!

What are you grateful for?

I’m often most grateful for the immensity of the night sky which I notice a lot out walking my dogs in my tree filled back yard. I have few neighbors and little light pollution so I get to see lots of stars. It makes me think of remembering to look up and see the sunrise the next morning, or the sunset before the night sky. the sky is always there, and it tells wonderful stories if we remember to look for them! (came over from the subgroup at the Circle)
